Shenzhen issues the first registration document for independent insurance agents
On July 19, Shenzhen Banking and Insurance Regulatory Bureau and Shenzhen Market Regulatory Bureau jointly issued China’s first Guidelines on Registration Matters for Shenzhen Independent Individual Insurance Agents, guiding and standardizing the insurance business of Shenzhen independent agents and promoting the high-quality transformation and development of the industry. Specifically, the Guidance further clarifies the property orientation, conditions and standards, registration process, commercial registration and other rules of independent personal insurance agents in Shenzhen from the two aspects of business licensing and commercial management, and concentrates on solving the pain points in the development of independent agents in Shenzhen.
Looking back, in December 2020, China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission issued the Notice on Matters Related to the Development of Independent Individual Insurance Agents, which put forward specific rules in terms of the positioning, conditions and standards, codes of conduct, selection mechanism, company management, supervision and management of independent individual insurance agents. This means that the independent individual insurance agent model has an institutional foundation, and insurance companies have rules to follow in exploring this model.
