Market Update: Latvia Producer Inflation at 2-1/2-Year High
Producer prices in Latvia climbed 5.1 percent year-on-year in April of 2021, the highest reading since December of 2018, after a 3.4 percent increase in the previous month. Upward pressure came from prices of both exported products (7.1 percent vs 5.5 percent in March) and domestic (2.9 percent vs 1.2 percent). Among industries, producer inflation quickened for manufacturing (6.4 percent vs 4.4 percent), mining (3.7 percent vs 1.4 percent) and water supply (10.9 percent vs 7.8 percent), while costs declined at a soft pace for utilities (-2.1 percent vs -2.2 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices jumped 1.6 percent, after a 1.4 percent increase in March. source: Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia [/s2If]
