Market Update: Austria Industrial Output Rises the Most since 1998
Austria’s industrial production rose 12.7 percent from a year earlier in March of 2021, following a downwardly revised 1.7 percent rise in the previous month. It was the strongest increase in industrial activity since December of 1998, amid a low base effect from last year when the coronavirus pandemic hit production hard. Output grew sharply for construction (21.7 percent vs 2.9 percent in February) and manufacturing (10.4 percent vs 1.5 percent) but slowed for energy (2.7 percent vs 7.7 percent).
