Market Update: NZX Falls Below 12,200
New Zealand shares opened sharply lower on Thursday, with the S&P/NZX 50 falling below the 12,200 level, pressured by weakness among the healthcare sector. Market sentiment was still dominated by lingering concerns that rising inflation will prompt central banks to tighten monetary policy sooner and more abruptly than expected. Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation Ltd and Pacific Edge Ltd were among the biggest laggards on the NZX, down 8% and 4%, respectively. [/s2If]
