Market Update: TSX Hits Fresh Intraday Record
Canadian shares gained some upside momentum in afternoon trading on Tuesday, with the benchmark S&P/TSX Composite notching a fresh intraday record high around 20,080, as investors grew optimistic about the countrys economic recovery. Canada unexpectedly posted a trade surplus of CAD 594 million in April, as a shortage of chips slashed imports and exports of motor vehicles and parts, Statistics Canada data indicated. Aritzia Inc and Air Canada were among the biggest gainers on the index, up 4.8% and 4.6%, respectively. [/s2If]
