Market Update: Malaysia Stocks Flat in Early Trade
The FTSE KLCI traded near a flatline in early deals on Tuesday after closing at a near one-week high in the prior session, as investors await the FOMC meeting, which will run later in the day to Wednesday, amid expectations that the central bank will continue to remain ultra-accommodative until the US economy has further recovered. On the bond market, benchmark 10-year yields were 1.4872% in Asia, little changed from Monday when they rebounded from Fridays three-month low. On the pandemic front, Malaysia on Monday administered its highest daily vaccination rate with 197,963 doses delivered, with a total of 142,890 individuals received their first dose, while the remaining 55,073 received their second jab. Palm kernel oil producer Green Ocean Corp Bhd jumped 12.5% after proposing to raise an additional MYR 12.95 million from a private placement to fund capital expenditure for its new glove business. Meantime, Hong Leong Financial Group added 1.2%. [/s2If]
