Market Update: Taiwan Export Orders Miss Expectations in May
Export orders from Taiwan went up 34.5 percent year-on-year to USD 52,294 million in May of 2021, the fifteenth consecutive rise in export orders, although below market expectations of a 40.15 percent surge. Among major trade partners, orders increased the most from Japan (41.3 percent), followed by China (40.0 percent), the US (28.1 percent), and Europe (20.9 percent). Looking ahead, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan forecasts June export orders to jump between 28.1 and 31.7 percent, over a year earlier. source: Ministry of Economic Affairs, R.O.C. [/s2If]
