Nvidia has just reported its second quarter earnings report. Here’s how Nvidia did versus Refinitiv consensus estimates:

Nvidia stock fell over 4.57% in extended trading. The report is largely consistent with Nvidia’s preliminary earnings two weeks ago. Nvidia warned it would miss the Wall Street estimates due to slow gaming sales amid the macroeconomic condition. From the guidance perspective, the chipmaker said it expected $5.9 billion in sales in its fiscal third quarter, versus Refinitiv consensus estimates of $6.95 billion.

For the gaming part, second-quarter revenue was $2.04 billion, down 33% from a year ago and down 44% from the previous quarter, which was a sharper decline than the company anticipated. Nvidia has commented that the miss was due to the lower sales of its gaming products, primarily graphics cards for PCs. “Macroeconomic headwinds across the world drove a sudden slowdown in consumer demand” for the company’s gaming products, Nvidia CFO Colette Kress said on a call with analysts.
For the data center part, second-quarter revenue was $3.81 billion, up 61% from a year ago and up 1% from the previous quarter, driven by strong demand from what the company calls “hyperscale” customers, which are big cloud providers.
Overall, Nvidia’s weak earnings and guidance has warned the weak economic condition. Investors should be cautious on the investments with higher than market multiples (P/E, P/S, P/B) stocks.
