Fed Officials Diverge on Interest Rate Hikes

Bank of America reports that opinions among Federal Reserve officials are divided on interest rate hikes. While two officials believe that the current rate level is sufficient to end the hike cycle, four others think that another 0.25% increase is necessary. The remaining 12 officials anticipate at least two more increases of 0.25%. There is speculation that Fed Chair Powell may belong to the first group, based on his recent press conference which appeared more dovish compared to the FOMC statement and SEP report.
