As significant developments unfolded in Russia today, a late bid appeared in the oil market.
In a video last week, Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin appeared to say that his 25,000 strong militia was heading to Moscow to oust the leadership of the defense ministry.
“Those who destroyed our lads, who destroyed the lives of many tens of thousands of Russian soldiers, will be punished. I ask that no one offer resistance… We will consider anyone who tries to resist a threat and quickly destroy them,” he said.
As expected, Russian officials reacted negatively and have now accused Prigozhin of participating in an armed rebellion.
There is a genuine sense of fear about a possible civil war amongst some people, as the deputy commander of Russia’s forces has instructed the stopping of military movements and returning them to their regular bases in a video.
The FSB, Russia’s Federal Security Service, has warned the public to disregard “unlawful and hazardous directives” from Yevgeny Prigozhin and urged them to cooperate with the Russian military and FSB in capturing him, along with other leaders of the Wagner group.
Besides that, there is a multitude of speculations regarding the current situation on the field.
It is possible that this may lead to no outcome or could result in a civil war, but it is crucial to closely monitor Russia over the weekend.
