Market Update: East Timor Inflation Rate at Near 7-1/2 Year High of 3.4%
East Timor’s annual inflation increased to 3.4 percent in April 2021, the highest level since December 2013, from 2.9 percent in the previous month. Main upward pressures mainly came from food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.2 percent vs 4.4 percent in March), transport (0.8 percent vs -0.3 percent), alcohol & tobacco (7.6 percent vs 7.5 percent), housing (0.4 percent vs 0.4 percent), and clothing & footwear (0.1 percent vs 0.1 percent). Conversely, cost fell for furnishings & household equipment (-0.9 percent vs -0.2 percent).
