Market Update: London Stocks Fall from 3-Week Highs
The FTSE 100 dropped to 7,050 on Thursday, from yesterdays three-week highs, with retail stocks and travel companies among the worst performers. Discounter B&M reported that pretax profits doubled last year as it stayed open during the lockdown, but said that trading continues to be volatile at a weekly and product category level, in particular since the recent easing of lockdown restrictions. Meanwhile, reports that Portugal could potentially be removed from the UKs green list also weighed on sentiment. Elsewhere, services PMI data is likely to be scrutinized for signs of inflation.
