Market Update: TSX Holds Near Record Highs
Canadian shares gave up early gains to end virtually flat on Monday, with benchmark S&P/TSX composite still near record highs as gains in the technology sector offset losses in the heavyweight materials one. Weakness in gold prices after hawkish comments from the Fed pushed shares of precious metal deep in the red. On the data front, the latest figures showed the Consumer Price Index rose 3.6% in May, the biggest yearly increase since May 2011. [/s2If]
