Market Update: UK 10Y Bond Yield Jumps to Near 2-Week High
The yield on UK 10-year government bond hovered jumped to 0.81%, the highest level since June 7th, after the US Federal Reserve brought forward the time frame on when it will deliver the first post-pandemic interest rate hikes, while Chair Jerome Powell said there had also been initial talks about a bond-buying tapering. Elsewhere, economic data released earlier this week showed the UK inflation rate rose more than expected in May to the highest level since July 2019 and above the Bank of England’s 2.0% target.
