Market Update: Ivory Coast Inflation Rate at Near 8-1/2-Year High
The annual inflation rate in Ivory Coast soared to 4.2 percent in May of 2021, the highest since October 2011, from 3.9 percent in the previous month. Main upward pressure came from prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (7.0 percent vs 5.3 percent in April), of which tubers and plantains (21.1 percent) and meats (12.8 percent) and housing & utilities (4.4 percent vs 4.1 percent) while consumer prices for transport rose at a softer pace (4.0 percent vs 4.7 percent).
