Market Update: US Futures Steady Ahead of Powell Testimony
US stock futures traded little changed on Tuesday, after the Dow Jones had its best session since March the day before and as traders await Fed Chair testimony before the House Select Subcommittee on pandemic aid. In prepared remarks, Powell reiterated the recent jump in inflation to a 13-year high would prove temporary and that the central bank will continue its supportive stance to the economy. Traders will be looking for any updates on the tapering timeline after the Fed sped up their expected pace of policy tightening and signalled taper talks have started but provided no further details. On Monday, Wall Street rebounded as investors apparently shrug off a hawkish Fed and refocus on growth prospects and reflation trade. The Dow rose 587 points, or 1.8% to 33877. The S&P 500 ended the day up 58 points or 1.4% at 4225 and the Nasdaq Composite rose 111 points or 0.8% to 14141. [/s2If]
