Market Update: Paris Stocks Move Slightly Lower
The CAC 40 edged lower on Wednesday, in a mixed day for European markets, as investors digested economic health indicators against a background of uncertain global monetary conditions. French PMI data showed the services sector expanded the most in over 3 years, strongly benefiting from the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in the country, whereas the manufacturing activity cooled down in June, amid a slower rise in production volumes. On the corporate side, Pernod Picard jumped almost 3% following the update on its FY21 profit guidance, with the French brewer now expecting a 16% organic growth in profit from recurring operations, from a prior 10%, due to a stronger-than-anticipated recovery.
