Consumers Protection Bureau of CBIRC: 360,000 complaints of banking and insurance institutions are processed last year
On July 8, the 274th Banking and Insurance Industry Regular Press Conference was held in Beijing. Guo Wuping, director of the Consumers Protection Bureau of China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission(CBIRC), said that in 2020, CBIRC handled a total of 360,000 complaints of banking and insurance institutions, including 240,000 of banks and 120,000 of insurance institutions. It has supervised and urged bancassurance institutions to refund and compensate consumers 17.7 billion yuan. At the same time, in accordance with Central Committee of CCP’s request to prioritize non-litigation dispute resolution mechanism, CBIRC has stepped up efforts to guide dispute mediation work in various regions, and successfully resolved 100,000 bancassurance consumer disputes.
