Market Update: The FTSE MIB Index rose 1.02%
The FTSE MIB extended gains for the seventh session in a row to close 256 points or 1% higher at 26,457 on Wednesday, outperforming its European peers and trading above levels not seen since September 2008, with Italian banking stocks among the best performers on prospects of merger deals and the recent upbeat corporate results. Among the best performers were also Italian cement manufacturer Buzzi Unicem (+3.3%) and cablemaker Prysmian (+2.9%) after the approval of a trillionaire infrastructure bill in the US Senate. [/s2If]
