Beijing issued the newest implementation plan for Hydrogen Energy Industry development; Auto companies export volume has a YoY increase of 1.2 times; China Evergrande Vice-Chairman Xia Haijun has sold 3 million Evergrande shares; Autonomous driving problems are still being heated.

**Industry News**

On August 16, the Beijing Bureau of economy and information technology formally issued a notice on the "Beijing Hydrogen Energy Industry Development Implementation Plan (2021-2025)".

The implementation plan specifies how the hydrogen energy industry in Beijing will develop over the next five years from multiple perspectives.

In addition, according to CAAM statistical analysis, in July 2021, the export volume of auto companies hit a record high, of **which the contribution of new energy auto exports to growth was 31.5%.**

In July 2021, auto companies exported 174,000 vehicles, an MoM increase of 9.8% and a YoY increase of 1.8 times. From January to July 2021, auto companies exported 1.002 million vehicles, a YoY increase of 1.2 times, surpassing the entire year of last year.

Looking ahead, Citigroup said that it is optimistic about the strong fundamentals of the new energy vehicle industry. It is expected that the sales of new energy vehicles in August will increase by 8% month-by-month, or 164% YoY, reaching 266,000; BYD (1211.HK) and Geely (0175.HK) are the two companies with the highest penetration rate of new energy vehicles in the next two years.

**Robin Li released Baidu Apollo "Automobile Robot"**

Baidu unveiled its first robocar today at Baidu World 2021, its annual flagship technology conference.

According to reports, the car robot does not have a steering wheel or pedals, and has intelligent configurations such as super-large curved screens, smart consoles, dimming glass, and zero-gravity seats.

It has L5 autonomous driving capabilities and does not require human driving.

**Autonomous driving problems are still hot topics**

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said it has launched a formal safety investigation into Tesla's driver assistance system Autopilot. The survey covered approximately 765,000 Tesla vehicles in the United States.

Former Ford Motor Company CEO Mark Fields was interviewed afterward, mentioning NHTSA's investigation into Tesla's Autopilot function.

Fields pointed out that the number of vehicles affected by this investigation is huge, which may be bad news for Tesla.

Because more than half of all the cars the company has produced so far may be forced to a large-scale recall, which may cost billions of dollars.

Fields said that based on his knowledge of NHTSA, this investigation may last for a year to a year and a half. He also added that if NHTSA believes that the Autopilot feature does not meet its standards, it can issue a recall.
