The annual inflation rate in Germany, as measured by the CPI, increased to 6.4% in June 2023, up from 6.1% in May 2023. According to Ruth Brand, president of the Federal Statistical Office, this slight uptick in inflation is due to factors such as food prices and the elimination of government subsidies. It is predicted that further subsidy cuts, such as those related to electricity, will continue to affect prices and contribute to inflation throughout the year.
