The Emergence of Europe’s Far Right

The political landscape in Europe is witnessing a rise in far-right movements, as indicated by surprising election results in Germany and Spain. The AfD in Germany and VOX in Spain have gained significant support, with the AfD polling 22 percent higher than other parties, apart from Union (CDU/CSU). Additionally, a recent poll suggests that if the French presidential election were held on Sunday, Marine Le Pen, a nationalist leader, would lead with approximately 36% of the votes. These developments indicate a growing dissatisfaction among citizens towards environmental policies and support for the Green movement.
